the most difficult travel ever

that christmas favorite "i'll be home for christmas" suddenly takes on a whole lot more meaning when:

a) your flight home gets cancelled on dec. 23rd
b) there are no flights available until dec. 25th in the late afternoon
c) you get home really late from the airport only to get up at 4:30 am to try standby on dec. 24th
d) you can't get standby because more flights are being cancelled and the standby list explodes from ~15 to >150
e) you hike over to grayhound to take a 12 hour busride home
f) the 12 hours turns into 14 hours because of a scary snowstorm

this past weekend felt like a pilgrimage!

on the bright side, my family was sooooo happy to see me and that made it worth it. also, boxing day in canada is super amazing, and i got a bunch of cool new clothes (including a mexx suit and cute work shoes).

our way back to new york was relatively better - the only bad thing was having to wait forever because newark's baggage belt was broken (our checked bags had to be driven/carried? inside the terminal).

Ohmygosh. I just came home from Mexx. There was a really nice grey suit I wanted but they didn't have the pants in my size. What does yours look like? This feels like deja vu. I also bought a top from there.

Am glad to hear that you made it home in one piece. How're the adventures with friends?

    I feel for you.
My flight home was also cancelled, but was lucky enough to call ahead and get put on another flight. 10 hours later, I made it home.

Course I did also get stuck in a blizzard on my way up to ski. A 4 hour trip turned into 12. =p
